An unexpected upside of COVID

COVID-19 has really disrupted Australia’s healthcare system the during last year, with GPs and outpatient clinics rapidly pivoting to telehealth consultations, particularly for people with chronic conditions.  Prof Brian Oldenburg, Director of the NHMRC CRE for Connected Health, says that “even though the incredible uptake of telehealth consultations has been very impressive over the last 12 months in Australia, there is still a lot that government, health departments and health system need to do in order to really support health practitioners to realize the potential of technology-enabled health delivery and for their patients to access high quality healthcare, virtually”.
